Basement Conversion Project - The R. E. LAY Alternative Space Provider
Fixtures, fittings etc. are removed to store. Services are disconnected and stripped-out as necessary. The existing floor is removed. Equipment and a suitable access to the working area is established.	The existing peripheral and internal walls of the building are Underpinned from within the building. (For Underpinning details see relevant web page.)	The Underpinning bases form the walls of the new basement. On completion of the Underpinning the central ground area is excavated to the required formation level.
Non compressable material and blinding sand is laid to form a sub-base, a damp proof membrane is laid, and if required reinforcement fixed prior to placing concrete to form the structural floor.	Upper Floor Brick sleeper walls are built on top of the Underpinning to support the new ground floor construction. Services are reinstated as required.	Finishes Water proof tanking is applied to the walls and floor. The walls are then rendered and the floor screeded ready for decoration and final finishes.
